According to various sources, John Swesey and his sons John and Joseph came to this country in 1628 or 1629.  The family  has grown and spread to all fifty states and Canada.  The spelling of our surname is as varied as the people who carry it.

I hope you will feel free to send your family information and queries to this site.  We will post photos and any other information you'd like to share.  Let us know what else you'd like to see here.

The biggest thing you will see appear on this website is our Swesey DNA project.  Details of that endeavor will be available soon and we hope that every line of our family will step up and join in on this.  Many of us have questions about our ancestry that we hope to answer by this means.  If you are not a straight line male descendant but wish to help with this project, we will be establishing a fund to help those who are eligible to be tested but find the cost a hardship.  If you are interested in participating in this project please contact us.

The links to the left may not be working right now, please be patient.

Clyde Downing has graciously given his permission to post his newsletters on this website.  I could use some help from anyone willing to do some typing.
